This 50-hour Pre-Professional Service course is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are seeking standard teaching certification in P-12 Subject Area and Elementary K-6 within the state of New Jersey. This asynchronous course is organized in six modules that will engage students on topics that will orient and prepare them to begin a career in teaching. Students will learn about teaching as a profession by: observing teachers in action, reflecting on personal experience, exploring the notion of teachers as change agents, and learning about the role of families and communities in developing learners. At the completion of this course, students will receive verification of program completion that can be submitted to their school districts where they have been assigned to teach.

Please note: This 50-hour course does not meet the requirement for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3 certification. Although it is not a requirement that individuals taking this course already possess a Certificate of Eligibility in the subject area they plan to teach, it is suggested that individuals be eligible for this certification since the CE and completion of the 50-hour course are both required to begin working in a public school setting within the Provisional Teacher Program.
